Microsoft Trial
Bill Gates took the stand in the current lawsuit against Microsoft. Mircosoft is being sued for one billion dollars by Novell Inc. Novell Inc claims that Gates rejected Novell's product, WordPerfect because it was the best product out and Microsoft wanted to become a monopoly. However, Gates claims that he rejected WordPerfect because it could have caused Windows 95 to crash. Novell Inc said they lost 1.2 billion dollars because of Microsoft.

11/13 Pt. 2
I school teacher may get fired over Facebook. After a regular day of work, a New Jersey first grade teacher wrote a comment on Facebook about her young students. She described them as "future criminals" and could lose her job because of it. Parents complained that the comment was offensive and a judge feels that she should be fired for "lack of sensitivity." I do feel that there should be some kind of discipline but she should not lose her job. She should have known not to post that comment on Facebook. A decision will be made in 45 days.

I didn't get a chance to blog last Wednesday so I'm blogging now. Motorola is bringing back the RAZR in a new updated version. The first RAZR was popular back in 2004 and Motorola is interested in bring back the success. The new RAZR will be a smart phone but how will it do against the Blackberry and iPhone? I don't think it will be successful but more of a flop. They should try to come up with something better than the competition instead of running off old ideas.

The cell phone company, US Cellular Corp recently turned down a chance to carry the iPhone. US Cellular Corp is currently the sixth largest cell phone company in the United States. They turned down the chance because the phone is too expensive. The company has about 5.9 million subscribers and the number is shrinking every year, which also added to the reasons. Sprint recently bought and said that it will take two years to pay it off. My company would definitely buy the iPhone, especially with the number of people with them today.

Just read that Angry Birds past up 500 million downloads. It came out just two years ago, and is constantly passing milestones. Once released on Android, it gained one million downloads in two days. Angry Birds is the most downloaded game ever. Me, I've never downloaded it, but after reading about the popularity I might have to.

I read on Yahoo that AT&T is releasing two phones for its new network. The HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. The new network is only in about 6 cities right now, but AT&T hopes to expand to 15 by the end of they year. The new network is suppose to be much faster and more efficient than the old one. Me, I'm sticking with the iPhone.

Just read on yahoo that Nokia is making a Windows smart phone to compete with the market. Before I had an iPhone I had a Windows phone, the HTC Tilt 2 and I had a lot of problems. I don't think the Nokia phone will be able to compete with the iPhone or Blackberry because Windows is not very good as far as phones.

I thought I was going to have to blog about the Social Network, but I guess not. I read that iPad sales have decreased, while Android tablet sales have increased. They're saying that the iPad has reached its peak. I don't believe it, but I do wonder exactly how good is the Android tablet. The Android tablet is reaching 1/3 of all sales, while the iPad dropped from 97% to around 60%.

I'm blogging right before class. This past Friday I went to Starbucks but couldn't get the the program to work on Firefox. Later on that day I finally got the new ios 5 software for my iPhone. I really like it, there's a lot more I can on my iPhone now. As of now I'm still trying to learn everything.

I always have problems when working on my blog. For some reason I can never click on "publish post" I think has something to do with my PC. Lately, Internet Explorer has been freezing a lot on my PC. Hopefully I'll be able to buy a MACbook soon. That way I won't have to worry about viruses either.

Heard from one of my friends that the iPhone 4S is suppose to drop sometime in October. I'm definitely not getting it. From what he says there really isn't a big difference between the iPhone 4 and the 4S. Plus I'd rather wait for the iPhone 5 so I can see what all the hype is about. I wonder who's going to get the iPhone 4S especially since the iPhone 5 is dropping soon.

I read on Yahoo that Conrad Murry's trial has app. Technology is really coming a long way. I don't have to watch Television or search on google to get updated on the trial. Now, I can download the app. I even read that the app is number one on iTunes. The app consists of a live video stream from Fox TV in Los Angeles. Who knows how many people would've downloaded an OJ Simpson trial app.

iPhone 5
I just found out that the iPhone 5 is coming out soon. I have an iPhone 4 but I'm not too sure if I'm going to get the iPhone 5. I'll probably get it around next year because I know that it's going to have some kind of problems just like the iPhone 4 did when it first came out. However, I'm very interested in how it looks. Hopefully it lives up to its expectations.

It's Sunday and I'm just now getting to my blog. I went on Yahoo today and saw that the first Apple Store was opened in Hong Kong. The article also said that the store was mobbed on opening day. Apple must be very popular because the were thousands of Apple fans there. There's no way the staff could get to all these people. I guess people go crazy over Apple, everywhere.

Big Brother Big Business
1) After watching Big Brother Big Business I do in a way fear technology and its growth. I never worried about someone tracking my phone records until watching this movie. The movie makes it seem as though I am constantly being watched. It looks like its only going to get worse. As far as technology, someone could be watching me type this blog.
Even though I feel like I have nothing to hide, it's still scary. I don't want anybody to be able to get my information whenever they want. There's websites that sell my records but I'm not getting any of the money. Just knowing how far technology has come really makes me think before I do anything. It's crazy knowing that my printer could be tracking everything I do.
The main part that bothers me is the whole spy thing. Random people watching me do my day to day tasks, and all these security cameras. Even if I feel like I'm being low key, people could watch me while I sleep, eat and go to class. The movie makes it seem like in the years to come there really won't be any such thing as privacy. I wonder if it's this bad in other countries.
2) Even though privacy is a big issue, I do feel like there some people that should be monitored to a certain extant. People like rapists or child molesters that have just been released should be watched. Not all the time but, maybe have some kind of GPS device. But I don't believe anybody should be watched all the time. Everybody needs some privacy time.
If the government could watch anybody it would give them too much control. I don't even think that Google should be able to keep records. One never knows what the government would do with all the information they gain. The government would tell the people anything they wanted to hear. All the good without the the bad.
However, I don't mind that the government gathers cell phone records for investigations. Especially if it means making the United States safer. I feel like the government taking records does have some good to it. But the whole monitoring people constantly is what I have a problem with. The government should not have that power.
3) As far as companies sharing data that they received from consumers, I do believe they share that information. Even if a company says they aren't, I still would not believe it. Companies are constantly in competition, so I think that they would do whatever it takes to stay on top of the game. Big Brother Big Business made it seem as though Google was the only search engine that kept records forever. Google is also ahead of AOL, Yahoo, and Bing.
With this being said, it's hard for me to believe that a company doesn't share information. Companies such as Coke-a-Cola have other companies under them, that they may give out information too. Even employee information is given out and the movie showed this. Some companies may only use it for marketing purposes. However, I can;t speak for all companies.
There can be some good to sharing information, but at the same time I am a private person. If I give out my info to let's say Wal-Mart, I don't want them sharing it without my permission. Especially if I'm not benefiting from it. Some things shouldn't be shared. Information shouldn't be shared without one's knowledge.
4) There are a lot of aspects that I feel should be more secure in technology. One, I feel like if I'm being tracked in any sort of way I should know about it. That's like somebody following me. If my job or school knows my every move, I want to know that they know this. At the same time I don't feel like anybody should know my every move. Even if the excuse is used that it's "for security purposes."
Next I feel like it shouldn't be easy for a private investigator or any other person to obtain my phone records. The Private Investigator made it sound it sound so easy to get one's cell phone records. I have a problem with this because after watching the movie, It made me wonder if someone was looking at my records. Taking phone records is a big problem. Phone companies should make the process difficult.
Lastly, all these companies that keep people's personal records without them knowing needs to change. It looked as though companies were doing this without any one's knowledge. At the same time making available to the public. Having my personal records is one thing but, making them available to the next person is not right. There should be a lot more security as far as this aspect. This should be prevented.
5) I see people obtain records being the most harmful. It's as though companies carelessly store information about people. People are easily hacking these companies. People are even finding important information about other people through Google. Hackers and identify thefts have access to a lot of different sources.
Companies storing all of this information through networks that aren't secure is really hurting society. There are a lot of victims of identity theft every year. It is as though people have no control over this. The victims cannot stop the theft. All the companies do in the end is apologize while the people lose money.
Everyday private information is getting into the wrong hands. Which is something that the movie made me more aware of. All the victims, all the different stories of how cell phones, the Internet and other technology really hurt someones life. And it doesn't look like it's hard to do. Almost as though taking information is a profession.
6) I enjoyed the film. At first I thought I was going to be able to stay awake through the whole movie. I thought it was going to be boring. Big Brother Big Business really made me aware of what technology is doing. The power of technology is not something I've really thought about but the movie opened my eyes.
It made me think twice before just trusting certain companies and websites. It also made me understand that technology can be more hurtful than helpful. I now understand why some people are paranoid. Why some some people do not have cell phones. It's crazy thinking about everything that could be going on.
The fact that someone could be watching me RIGHT NOW bothers me. Even though I do believe that some people probably think to deep into it. Then there's all the cases with people losing jobs and money over technology which makes me wonder WHO is looking at my private information. It also makes me think if I am a victim in any sort of way. In the end, the film was useful.

9/20
I found out last class that Windows 8 was about to be released. This is cool because I feel like I've had Windows 7 for a while. The upgrade will be nice. I also read on yahoo that an iPhone prototype was lost. Because of this Apple is looking to up its security. That's crazy if some random person was able to get their hands on the iPhone 5. No class tomorrow but I do have to watch a movie.....

Went over a lot of notes in class, basically all of chapter 3, we didn't just have a big discussion. Almost done blogging for the day, but I actually feel like i'm getting the hang of it.

Post Office
During class we had a discussion about the Post Office and how it might not be around in the future. That's something I really can't imagine because I use the post office often. I have a friend in jail that I write regularly, my family sends me things and I also order shoes off line. Would I have to start shipping letters to jail through FedEx. I know I want the Post Office to stay around and hopefully it does.

Rethinking Work
1. America needs to take advantage of the technology that is changing around the world. High speed rail is prime example. Japan, which is further along than the United States as fas as technology has a very fast high speed rail system. Not taking advantage of the train system has set back the U.S. If America wants to keep up with other countries they need to start by putting in a high spped rail system and must be open to more changes.
2. For companies looking to innovate, I recommend talking to customers and other people outside the company for ways to improve the company. Its been proven that ideas from groups of people can do more than just the individual. Who more better to talk to than the customers? After watching the video, I feel that experts arn't needed as much as people say, when companies now have access to the entire world. Companies need to utilize this if they want to innovate.
3.Education is much more important today than it was twenty years ago. Without education, some people feel as though they have no opportunity. If we want our country to continue to develop and continue to succeed, our youth must be educated. Americans are behind as far as math and sciences and this cannot continue if America wants to pass up countries like China and Japan. By educating future leaders, our country would not only be in good hands, but maybe be able to pass up other countries which we are behind right now.
4. I've noticed that social networks have really changed lives. Websites such as Facebook or Twitter have really become places where Google and Yahoo find valuable information. Jobs can find potential employees through Facebook and even decide who they don't want to work by going through facebook. More and more people join social networks and can keep up with their favorite celebrities through them. In the end, social networks are only going to grow and make life easier.
5. I feel that America is behind a lot of countries. Countries in Europe, Japan and China all sem to be ahead of the United States. Once again, America doesn't have a high speed rail system throughout the whole country. It's even better to buy a Toyota or Lexus before one buys a Ford. It seems that foreign is always better. Although the United States developed, it is still behind.

Apps
After watching Planet of the Apps, I realized I'm one of those people who need apps. Everything from games, calculators, stocks and social networking are all on my phone. My older brother is even trying to get into the app business, which doesn't sound like a bad idea. I really don't know how long I could go without using an app. Maybe one day I'll stop relying on them. It's crazy how there are so many of them, there's a lot of money in that market.

Square
Good discussion in class, learned a lot of new things about technology. My page is boring, I need to start adding photos and othr stuff to make it stand out. Just downloaded the square app, should be getting the device in a couple days. From what we talked about in class, I'm missing out. No more excuses on why anybody can't pay me back. Hopefully there is still a lot more to learn about technology.

First Day
First day was chill. I know some people in class so it's not like I'm just a new kid. The class seems interesting. Hopefully I'll be able to learn some new stuff about technology. I am new to blogging, by the end of the semester I should get a hang of it. My page seems boring, but it'll livin up by December. Tomorrow is the first real class so we'll see how that goes.
